Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is it really 100% pure? What are the ingredients? Yes! there is only one ingredient: 100% Pure & Natural Flaxseed Oil (Linum Usitatissimum).

Q: What is flaxseed oil and is it the same as flax oil?

Yes, flaxseed oil and flax oil are the same. The seeds of the flax plant are pressed to obtain the nutrient-rich oil that they contain. Flax oil is classified as polyunsaturated vegetable oil. Flaxseed oil is unique in this category because it is the richest source of omega-3 as well as containing omega-6.

Q: What is the recommended serving of flaxseed oil for adults and children?

The recommendation that is given most often by nutritionists and care providers is 1 tablespoon of flax oil for every 100 lbs. of body weight, to be used daily. For a child, the recommendation is 1 teaspoon of flax oil for every 33 lbs. of weight.

What are carrier oils?

“Carrier Oil” is a term generally used in the contexts of aromatherapy and cosmetic recipes for natural skin and hair care.

Carrier oils and essential oils are made from plants. Carrier oils are used to dilute essential oils and “carry” them to your skin. That’s because essential oils are potent and can cause irritation when applied directly to your skin.

A Carrier Oil is a vital aspect of an aromatherapy massage or a natural cosmetic such as a soap, bath oil, body oil, cream, lip balm, lotion, or other moisturizer, as it can affect the usefulness of the massage and the color, scent, therapeutic properties, and shelf life of the final product, respectively.

Most carrier oils are unscented or lightly scented and don’t interfere with an essential oil’s therapeutic properties. They may be used alone or with other oils to nourish your skin.

Cold Pressing

It is a chemical-free process that involves placing the nuts or seeds in a horizontal press that has an 'expeller,' which is a rotating screw. The screw drives the nuts and seeds through a barrel-shaped hollow and compresses them until the high pressure squeezes out the oil, which seeps out through the opening, while the ‘meal,’ or the debris, remains inside the barrel. The oil is then filtered, resulting in the finished product. Due to the absence of solvent residues in Cold Pressing, the outcome is cleaner, purer oils that are higher in natural colors and scents.

Benefits & Uses

High in Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Much like flax seeds, flaxseed oil is loaded with omega-3 fatty acids.

In fact, one tablespoon (15 ml) contains an impressive 7,196 mg of omega-3 fatty acids.

Specifically, flaxseed oil contains alpha-linolenic acid (ALA), a form of omega-3 fatty acid that is only converted in small amounts to active forms of omega-3, like EPA and DHA.

If you aren’t getting enough DHA and EPA in your diet, most guidelines recommend at least 1,600 mg of ALA omega-3 fatty acids daily for men and 1,100 mg for women.

Just one tablespoon of flaxseed oil can meet and exceed your daily ALA needs.

If you aren’t taking fish oil or getting one to two servings of fatty fish in your diet each week, flaxseed oil may be a good solution to help supplement your diet with the omega-3 fatty acids you need.

Helps with a skin condition

One small study had 13 women supplement with flaxseed oil for 12 weeks. At the end of the study, they experienced improvements in skin smoothness and hydration, while skin sensitivity to irritation and roughness had decreased.

It's easy to add to your diet

Flaxseed oil can easily be swapped for other types of oil in salad dressings, dips, and sauces. It is a flavorsome addition to chilled green leafy salads. It can also be used as a glaze on roast meats and vegetables. Alternatively, you can add one serving (one tablespoon or 15ml) into smoothies or shakes to add some flaxseed oil into your diet with minimal effort.

Powerful haircare ingredient

For hair that is prone to breakage and damage, a massage with flaxseed oil can help. Vitamin E in flaxseed oil helps with hair loss and may stimulate new hair growth. Lignans act as strong antioxidants which can help in the regrowth of stronger hair. Topical application of flaxseed oil helps from flaking and nourishes the scalp from within, providing relief from dandruff. Dr Chandan attests that a warm flaxseed oil massage is key to stronger, glossier hair. He suggests heating flaxseed oil and massaging it onto the scalp with your fingertips for ten minutes, and then raking it through the rest of the strands. Leave it on for an hour and rinse.
